One of the more challenging questions a business leader faces today is how to quantify the value of a risk avoided or an incident prevented? A recent survey published in September 2016 by the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics Professionals (“SCCE”) in conjunction with the Healthcare Compliance Association, reveals that over 83% of compliance professionals surveyed, confirmed that at least one or more incidents were prevented over the course of 24 months due to their existing compliance program. Over 46% of the professionals surveyed responded that their compliance programs prevented 6 or more incidents from occurring during a 24 month period. The survey also looked at the importance of training. The survey found that 76% of the compliance professionals surveyed confirmed a direct correlation between compliance training and reports of wrongdoing.
